I am going to answer question 4 first.......and I have to say that I absolutely loved the relaxation exercise! It was very calming and relaxing. Made me aware of my need to fill my house with color, and the colors that I have been choosing are light, bright, vibrant versions of colors in the rainbow. Especially orange and yellow. I was even recently inspired to take on a painting project and have been working the details in my mind, but this exercise has helped me to fill in the details that were missing : ). If I am able to complete the project before our class is over, I will post a pic of it~it actually fits very well with this whole concept!
OK, so back to question 1~ 6 months ago, I would have rated my well being in all three categories at a 8/9, then for about 4 months, I would say it went down to a 2, but as of right now, it is back up and at a 6/7. During the down time, I was experiencing a great deal of stress due to health problems of someone very close to me. With all of the time I was spending at the hospital/rehabilitation facility, I was not taking care of my needs. The initial problem has not resolved itself completely, but is getting better and I am back into the mode of taking care of me. The goals and activities to take it to a higher level again are to keep with my exercise plan, preferably getting in some form of exercise every day; cardio, bodyweight exercises, yoga and mediation....these will all help me to increase my physical, spiritual and psychological well being.
Jackie,
ReplyDeleteI so happy that this relaxation inspire you to paint. I think it is a beautiful thing when you are inspired by something and your create art from that inspiration. I hope you do find the time to finish this project before they class is over. I would love to see what you come up with. It is so important to find time for yourself. I'm a nurse so I take care of people all day long and I love my job but sometimes I just need time for me. I like to take 5 min out of my day to just be. I turn off all thoughts and feeling and it helps me go about my day a little better.Good luck on strengthening your well being. I know I work on it everyday:)
Good Luck,
Leena
Hey Jackie,
ReplyDeleteThat is great that you took on panting to help you relax. I like to listen to music to help me relax a little. I would love to see your paintings someday. I apologize for your Health problems, and the down time that you had but I am glad to see your getting back on track to a healthier life and creating joy through painting.

Hey,
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you are rebounding from what you referred to as your low points, sometimes illness that isn’t necessarily ours but a family member or friend can definitely affect us deeply, so I hope everything gets better. I think its nice you’ve found something to help you relax and ease your mind. I don’t have one particular things but I enjoy playing basketball so I try to shoot around by myself when I need “me time” or weight lift. I think its normal for our scales for these categories to differ and change from time to time. As we learn new things in class and theories and methods hopefully it will help us maintain a balance.
